Mont Kiara is another affluent township in Kuala Lumpur after the name of KLCC, Bangsar and Damansara Heights. Being one of the largest concrete jungles in Kuala Lumpur, Mont Kiara is well known of its high-end residential status and also the self-sufficient township amenities namely international schools, commercial and entertainment hubs.
It all started since 1990 where Mont Kiara was still known as Segambut Dalam Rubber Estate. The word ‘Mont Kiara’ was only given after the first man who took the courage to develop the place - Mr. Alan Tong. There wasn’t any access ready at the particular place till the first condominium - Mont Kiara Pines was completed in 1993. Today we witness another massive redevelopment, Mont Kiara, from a rubber estate to a remarkable township where more than 50 towers of commercial and residential buildings are ready to accommodate the demands from locals and foreigners.
Mont Kiara is always associated with international schools when people talk about it. Mont Kiara International School and Garden International School are well known in Kuala Lumpur and both of them are located in Mont Kiara. Their appearances further enhance the ‘expatriate status’ of the township as most of the foreign families will stay in Mont Kiara because of their children schooling. The corporate space in Plaza Mont Kiara and One Mont Kiara is playing the similar role by attracting the population in Mont Kiara. Furthermore Hyatt House, the first international hotel brand in Mont Kiara has been serving the business travellers since 2018.
